CALL FOR PAPERS: Authenticity, Performance, and (‘Post’)Truth in Theatre, Film, Television and Interactive Media

With Professor Helen Wood (University of Leicester) as keynote speaker

The Department of Theatre, Film and Television, University of York, is delighted to announce its 8th Annual Postgraduate Symposium on 22 June 2017.

We invite proposals for papers from postgraduate students who would like to present their research related to ideas of ‘reality’, ‘authenticity’, and ‘performance’ – both in theory and by creative practice. Possible topics include, but are by no means limited to:

• Identity (gender, class, race, sexuality)

• Bodies and Performativity

• Performance, Costume, and Theatricality

• Discourse and Language

• Fan cultures, Audience Research

• Digital identities, Social Media

Please send abstracts of 200-300 words to Siiri Sjöstrand (sms539@york.ac.uk). Participants will have 15 minutes to deliver their paper, in order to leave time for discussion. The deadline for entry is 26 April and we aim to respond to all submissions by 4 May.
