Visions and Words for Children of the African Diaspora

This special issue of Obsidian: Literature & Arts in the African Diaspora is dedicated to creative artistry for children of the African Diaspora. We invite original textual and multimedia submissions devoted to interdisciplinary and creative approaches in African Diaspora Children’s and YA Literature. Submissions must focus upon literature, visual, and audio artistry created by people of the African Diaspora. Submissions may include scholarly papers, audio and/or visual presentations, interviews, and creative/artistic works.

 

Submission Deadlines

 

Full scholarly essays/priority consideration for creative work: January 15, 2020

 

Creative work: March 15, 2020

Guidelines for Paper Submission   

 

?      Only original and unpublished work will be accepted

?      Use Times New Roman, 12 point font

?      Double spacing throughout (single spacing for poems is acceptable)

?      Citations should follow MLA 8th edition guidelines

?      Abstracts should be 200-250 words

?      Full-length papers should be 3500-5000 words

?      On the title page, after the title of the paper, list the author’s name, designation, and affiliation followed by the abstract and a list of keywords

?      Include a “Works Cited and Consulted” list at the end of the paper. If notes are necessary, please use end notes rather than footnotes and manually insert superscript letters (do not use MS word to automatically generate end notes)

?      All papers will be peer-reviewed and only papers adhering to the guidelines listed above will be accepted
