ReFocus: The International Directors Series, published by Edinburgh University Press invites scholars, researchers, and practitioners to submit papers for a title dedicated to the influential works of Dariush Mehrjui, a seminal figure in Iranian cinema. Known for his profound impact on the New Wave of Iranian cinema, Mehrjui’s films blend social commentary, philosophical inquiry, and aesthetic innovation. This title aims to explore the multifaceted dimensions of Mehrjui’s oeuvre, examining his contributions to film art and his role in shaping Iranian and global cinema.

We welcome contributions on a wide range of topics related to Dariush Mehrjui’s cinema, including but not limited to:

Submission Guidelines
Abstract Submission: Please submit an abstract of no more than 300 words outlining your proposed paper. Include a brief biography of up to 150 words with your submission.
Full Paper Submission: Upon acceptance of the abstract, full papers should be between 6,000 and 8,000 words in length, including references and notes.
Deadline for Abstracts: October 31, 2024
Notification of Acceptance: November 30, 2024
Deadline for Full Chapters: May 31, 2025
