Organization: Conference for Young Adult Literature Louisiana (CYALL)
CYALL is an annual conference hosted by LSU Shreveport in November and welcomes critical and creative discussion on young adult literature. The conference is a forum to encourage educators (future and current), librarians, and scholars to share and discuss scholarly and practical application of young adult literature and media. Graduate and undergraduate students are welcome and encouraged to attend and showcase their outstanding work. The conference is a mixed model approach that equally showcases practical application alongside papers that focus on research and inquiry.
Proposals will be accepted for the following session formats. See the conference website for additonal information and instructions.
Research and Inquiry Session (30 minute duration) - Share your current research or scholarly thinking about young adult literature in a supportive, focused presentation or paper format.
Learning Strategies in Practice Session (30 minute duration) Show how you bring young adult literature to life in your teaching. These sessions showcase instructional practices from middle or high school ELA classrooms as well as university-level YA literature courses.
Panel Session (1 hour) - Structured conversation and reserve time for engaging, inclusive discussion with the audience. We welcome panels at any career stage and especially value conversations about research, teaching, publishing, libraries, writing YA, community reading initiatives, and digital YA experiences. Up to 4 panelists.
Lightning Talk (1 hour) - Share a focused idea, insight, or experience related to young adult literature in a brief, engaging format. Lightning talks are ideal for works in progress, classroom innovations, emerging research questions, creative projects, or prompts meant to spark conversation rather than fully developed studies.
